of the VCF Soccer Academy in Southeast Europe

The VCF Academy collaborated in this competition that took place in Greece

The II International Tournament of the VCF Soccer Academies in Greece and Cyprus was held last April with great success both at a football and organizational level, in a tournament that was attended by 62 teams between the ages of 8 and 18 from England, Serbia, Lithuania and Greece.

For 4 days – from April 18 to 21 – nearly 1000 players gathered to enjoy football and the methodology of the VCF Academy throughout the 130 matches that took place in the six fields set up in the town of Kamena Vourla (Greece) that brought together clubs such as Southampton FC (UK). FK Vojvodina (Serbia), Zalgiris Kauno Football Academy (Lithuania) or Panathinaikos, PAOK, FC Lamia, Olympiada Immitos of Greece.

Also present at the tournament were Lorenzo Martínez, Head of the VCF Soccer Academy Programs, and José Bargues, coordinator of the Technical Areas of the VCF Academy, who was also able to share different training sessions with the coaches of the participating teams, especially with the coaches of the different venues of the VCF Soccer Academy in Greece and the VCF Soccer Academy in Cyprus. as well as with the coaches of FZ Zalgiris Kaunas, a club of which the VCF Academy is a technical partner.

Great job

“We have been able to see first-hand the great work that is being done in our VCF academies in Greece and Cyprus,” explains José Bargues. “They are countries with a great football tradition that are growing a lot in recent years, and it has been seen in the high competitive level of some players in the tournament,” says the coordinator of the Technical Areas of the VCF Academy, who also highlights the Sentiment generated by these tournaments.

“For a Valencianista it is a pride to see in other countries outside our borders, so many boys and girls with the Valencia CF crest”.

“For us to be here is very important, because it is where you can really see the magnitude of Valencia CF’s presence at an international level,” Lorenzo Martínez also points out. “We are the club (outside of the professional teams of Greece and Cyprus) with the most academies in these two nations.”

 

32 Valencian teams 

“We have brought together 32 Valencian teams in this tournament from 12 schools that we have spread throughout Southeast Europe. Specifically, 10 VCF Academies from Greece (East Thessaloniki, Levadia, Kifisia, Haidari, Pireaus, Vari, Troizinia, Syros, Samos and Kefalonia) and 2 from VCF Cyprus”.

Tournament objective

The objective of the tournament was to be a benchmark both in terms of quality, and in terms of participation and development of young soccer talents. It was also a qualitative step for sports tourism in the region and the strengthening of the local economy.

The tournament, which featured 62 teams between the ages of 8 and 18 as well as the U15 women’s category, was organized by the VCF Soccer Academy of Greece in conjunction with the Central Greece Region and the municipality of Kameni Voura and was held under the auspices of the Fthiotida Regional Football Association and sponsored by Star TV, the most important sports channel in Greece.
